// How to submit? When you are on one of our pages, you will see your name with status Members on top of it. Click on it, select "Contribute deviation". (if you do it from our home page, there will be a huge button there). Pick an abstract or surreal deviation from your gallery that you haven't submitted yet. Please submit it to current month folder. The picture will then have to pass my approval. Also, when you submit a picture for critique, select "suggest favorite" and submit it to the "critique them" collection. Only one submission/week please! Only photographs categorized as Abstract & Surreal will be accepted. NO PHOTOMANIPULATIONS will be accepted! // Receive in-depth criticism 1) While submitting a photograph you can include the word "critique!" in your submission if you want - I (the admin) will critique your picture, your submission will be added the the folder "critique them!" so that other members can critique your shot if they want to, and it will be mentioned in the artist's comments that you want to receive in-depth feedback. Be ready to receive negative critiques too! Of course, I would like to ask to all those who choose to critique a shot to be fair and give constructive criticism. 2) You can also include "critique me!" in your note if you want people to critique your works in general. In that case your icon will be added to the description of "critique them!" folder but not your picture. Your icon will also be added under "Newest submissions" on club's profile page. However, if you seem to respond in a rude manner to criticism your icon will be removed without previous notice. So, to all those who offer critiques: send me a note if a person whose icon is on our profile page is rude in response to your critiques (gimme link to that thread!). That's in order to reduce the amount of icons 3) This is all optional. You can include both "critique!" and "critique me!". Notes without any of these will be processed as usual. Also, once you feel that you get enough feedback, you can note me to get your picture/icon removed. (subject: "stop your criticism!" + thumb of your picture) // Critique them! Pieces which requested "critique!" (5 most recent): Vision Originality Technique Impact That' s very interesting shot, I'm wondering what it is
About composition: imo the most important part of that picture is in the middle, while a less significant part out of focus on the left takes too much space. I would crop it more to the right, or maybe shoot from a different angle to fit more in it. However, since I don't know what it is, I understand that that last suggestion can be simply pointless. Another option would be to make it horizontal with more of that texture that one can see at the top. It's much more interesting, than uniform tones, imo!
From a technical point of view, it's way too blurry. I see that you shot it at 1/20, and it seems like you didn't use a tripod. ~1/20 are speeds when a tripod may be required so I would strongly recommend to get one or add more light to avoid such slow shutter speeds. Vision Originality Technique Impact That's a really cool picture, with a lot of interesting details and a nice composition.
I would like to criticize your composition: i) imo the hole is too large. A step (or whatever may be required) back would make it nicer, I think. ii) it's very classical, almost boring. that would be interesting to see a more sophisticated composition next time...
Also, I don't really see, what's conceptual about it. "Everything passes but marks stay" isn't clearly visible from it, so I could say that the message isn't very well transmitted through the picture itself. Let me explain: i) The marks aren't obvious to see, since they are white on white. One has to look at your photo for quite a while before paying attention to them. ii) Once I see the marks I don't see anything suggesting the idea of "everything passes".
Nice try, keep shooting! Vision Originality Technique Impact I removed some stars for Originality because I've seen a lot of shots like this before. However, what I particularly like is the reflections on the car! That's really cool and adds to the composition. I don't really understand, why you placed two pictures; imho the 1st one is great by itself, better than the second one, and the repetition can even confuse the viewer and decrease impact. And yeah, I can feel the movement Vision Originality Technique Impact 1) I think that the composition could be enhanced, maybe shooting them from above would present interesting rhythm, a diagonal of circles or something like this. 2) Imho the colors are very sad. Brown is a color that is hard to deal with; maybe placing a colored sheet or something in the background could make an interesting effect 3) Contrast should be increased 4) I won't consider it abstract, 'cause it's obvious that these are glasses in a row. Anyway, that's great that you experiment; your own home is a good place to start with!
Vision Originality Technique Impact I really love the idea of that shot! It's totally unique while simple and clear. However, as you already noticed yourself, something is wrong with the result: the idea of the bars trying to escape isn't obvious to the observer, or at least that wasn't what I was thinking of when I saw your photograph. I think that's because a vertical format emphasizes vertical lines, while that's the horizontal lines that add to the idea of escape. I would definitely choose a horizontal format for that shot, with more space on the right, so that the horizontal lines of a shadow continue further away from the bars themselves. Since it's a really cool idea, I would even go there and make another shot (something I rarely do myself, willing to move on). Keep shooting, you make some amazing photographs, I love your vision of the reality!>> moar works to criticize!Members who requested "critique me!":
