Black and White Vision Contest (closed)

I would like to remind that the contest is about abstract photography. So far we accepted photographs that I normally wouldn't accept as a club submission because it's hard to define precisely what abstract photography is. However, from now on I will decline photographs that I think aren't abstract (as suggested by a member of the club). I cannot reconsider my decision about pictures that I already accepted, but please be aware that judges and voters may not vote for a photograph that they consider doesn't fit the theme. So if you want you can change your submission (I am thinking of submissions with people and landmarks), but don't worry, you won't be disqualified.
Same for the entries in different categories: for some entries, I wouldn't really accept them in 'subtle tones' category but rather in 'extremes' category, but since the difference isn't that obvious, I generally accept your own classification.
In a few words: from now on - abstract only; you can change your submissions if you want; be aware that you will be judged not only on quality of your pictures, but on content as well.

I would like to explain all these sentences in detail so that hopefully it is inspiring! Please read:

Black and white vision, the general title of the contest.
Clearly, it's a contest about black and white abstract photography.
'Vision' refers to black and white itself. Personally, when I shoot b/w I also think in b/w - I see tones and colors as they would turn out in b/w etc. So if you don't have that black and white vision try to get one while shooting for that contest!
'Vision' also refers to abstractionism in photography: not looking at the informative side of the surrounding objects, but at its shapes and with abstract photography it is getting to the extreme by removing any informative aspect from your picture - to leave only an aesthetic quality.

Subtle tones in a grayscale world
It is often considered that a good black and white photograph should have as many various tones in it as possible. So if you choose to submit to that category make sure that you have rich variety of tones in your photographs. Contrast is one think, but sometimes having mainly extreme black and white in a shot is less attractive than having a lot of tones in the middle.

United at the extremes
We logically come to the opposite category: photographs that present mainly extreme black and whites. Photographs that still have subtle tones but overall present just one tone also go into that category.
One may think that extreme contrast is meant to brake unity of a picture. However, extremes may be united by composition - so that no element can be removed from your photograph! That's what the word 'united' refers to.

I think that's a precise enough description of what we expect from you for that contest Don't just turn one of your colored pieces into black and white but try to explore that huge topic of photography. Make a shot that must be black and white!


Rules:
- you must be a member to enter the contest (watch us to join)
- two photographs/member, one/category: please note us with a THUMB ( FAQ #511: How do I post thumbnails of my art on the Chat Network or Forums? ) of your deviation (links will not be accepted), subject: "contest submission" and state in what category you submit each photograph (Subtle tones in a grayscale world or United at the extremes). i.e. you cannot submit 2 photos in a same category! only 1/category plz!
- it must be your own work*
- the deviations do not need to be new
- black and white abstract photography only  
- deadline: July 10.

*if you do not conform to this rule you will be disqualified without the possibility to re-enter the contest

Prizes:
There will be 3 winners: one in each category chosen by judges (see below) and one overall winner voted through notes during the week after the deadline.
